Kate Prendergast Releases Fifth Single 'Retold Tale'

Kate Prendergast, a young and rising Irish multi-instrumentalist, has quickly built a reputation as one of the most exciting new voices on the scene. Her songs bring together indie folk, blues, country and alternative rock in a way that feels raw, soulful and deeply personal. Influenced by artists such as Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and Kingfishr, her music balances intimate reflection with sharp, memorable storytelling.

Her debut single Past Letters introduced her as an artist with something important to say, and was swiftly followed by Undergrowth, Lavender Country and Ignition. Each track, produced in close collaboration with Declan Legge, received strong radio support in Ireland and the UK. Her ability to connect through both lyrics and performance has made her a name to watch, whether appearing as a solo act or with her band Epiphany.

Now she returns with Retold Tale, her fifth release and perhaps her most reflective to date. The song asks, “Does the song always remain the same?” and looks at the familiar struggles and questions that young artists face while trying to make their way in both music and everyday life. It is a track rooted in honesty and one that many listeners will find themselves relating to.

The recording brings together Prendergast’s vocals and piano with Declan Legge’s contributions on bass, drums, guitar and strings. Legge also produced, engineered and oversaw the studio process, ensuring the arrangement captured both the vulnerability and the strength in the song. With lyrics and music written by Prendergast, Retold Tale is another strong step forward in her growing catalogue.

What makes this release stand out is not only its craft but its sense of fearlessness. Prendergast continues to build a body of work that is distinctive, thoughtful and emotionally charged. With her magnetic voice and stage presence, she is quickly carving out her own place in the music world, one song at a time.
