Sunflower Thieves - Two Halves | Song Review

Sunflower Thieves are a pop-folk based in Leeds. The duo consists of Amy and Lily. Sunflower Thieves released their debut EP in 2017 called ' Hold The Storm ' which for me, is a very calming collection of songs. There are songs I can imagine putting on my record player and just chilling, zoning out, calming my thoughts of what might have been a bad day. The instrumental of their songs have that calming effect but the instrumental and their vocals together make a masterpiece. In September of 2018, they released a new single called ' Two Halves '. After listening to their song, it again, made me very calm. It reminds me of a crisp Spring morning - a little chilly but the sun is trying to escape from the clouds. It sounds like it could be the theme tune to the season change of Spring to Summer. If I am honest, I am not a huge fan of pop-folk music but Sunflower Thieves may have changed that for me. This song, as well as their others, reminds me of  Dodie 's music

Kelly Rowland - Kelly | Song Review

Kelly Rowland is back with her long-awaited, self-titled single, 'Kelly'. Kelly Rowland is an American singer, songwriter, actress and television personality. She first rose to fame in the late 1990s as a member of Destiny's Child , one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. During their hiatus, Kelly released her debut solo album ' Simply Deep ' (2002), which sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide and included the number-one single ' Dilemma ' with Nelly . She also had many UK top-ten singles such as ' Stole ' and ' Can't Nobody '. Apart from being part of Destiny's Child and being a judge on The X-Factor UK ; I know her by the iconic music video for ' Dilemma ' with Nelly where Kelly sent a text, to Nelly , on Microsoft Excell and she got frustrated as there was no reply. My main question is... How did they get Microsoft Excell on a mobile phone in 2009? Kelly was living in the future. Kelly i

ZAYN (ft. Nicki Minaj) - No Candle No Light | Song Review

ZAYN is a English singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Bradford, West Yorkshire, ZAYN auditioned as a solo contestant The X Factor UK in 2010. After being eliminated as a solo performer, ZAYN was brought back into the competition, along with four other contestants, to form the boy band that would become known as One Direction . ZAYN later left the group in March 2015 and subsequently signed a solo recording contract with RCA Records. Since then, he has released his debut album ' Mind Of Mine ' and a bunch of smash hit singles such as ' Duck Till Dawn ', ' Fingers ', ' PILLOWTALK ' and many others. He has released his next single called ' No Candle No Light ' with the queen of rap herself, Nicki Minaj - surprisingly being their first collaboration. The Fader called the song a "tropical house bop" and compared its synths to those in ' Sorry ' by Justin Bieber . Exclaim! noted the song's "booming EDM beat w

Tallia Storm - It's The GC | Song Review

I never thought I would write this review but here we are HAHA... Tallia Storm has released a single called ' It's The GC ' - all about the iconic queen and meme legend, Gemma Collins . Tallia Storm is a Scottish singer/songwriter who has appeared on many reality TV shows and has now released a song all about Gemma Collins . I believe this song is used for a promo video for Gemma Collins ' collection with BooHoo . There has been rumours of Gemma Collins releasing a song and I am kind of hoping this isn't it. I was expecting at least Gemma to be on the track. There are some parts of the song where there is some speaking over the instrumental, I was hoping that was Gemma at first as I couldn't work out who it was... But it is Tallia . However, Tallia is serving very good vocals and I do like the song. I just wish Gemma was on it at some point. Can you imagine a rap verse from Gemma ? Iconic. Tallia uploaded the audio of the song to her official YouT

Normani (ft 6LACK) - Waves | Song Review

Normani is an American singer, songwriter and dancer, best known as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony , which was formed on the second season of The X Factor US  in 2012. In 2017, she was a contestant in season 24 of Dancing with the Stars . After collaborating with a few artists, she has finally released her debut single called ' Waves ' from her debut album which is rumoured to be released early next year! This song features 6LACK who is is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. Normani previously performed this track during her set at TIDAL X in Brooklyn in October 2018. The song sees Normani going through the motions of a rocky and toxic relationship. Whilst the on-off relationship isn’t good for her, the

Emily Frith - Giving Up On Love | Song Review

Emily Frith is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter from Southend-On-Sea.  She released her debut EP last September called ' One Day ' which was very country-inspired and influenced. In August 2018, Emily released a brand new single called ' Better ' which she describes as 'a new chapter in her music career'. ' Better ' is a new sound for Emily and from the response, she has received, it seems to have been the right choice. Emily is currently a 'sponsored' artist for one of the top UK Country Music Blogs called ' Belles and Gals ', and also endorsed by popular brand ' VocalZone '. She has also been discovered by BBC Music Introducing many times and has been titled 'track of the week' twice! She is back with her brand new single, ' Giving Up On Love '. ' Giving Up On Love ' is another song with her new sound. In my opinion, this song seems to be a mixture of up-beat song and a ballad - I really like the c

Little Mix - LM5 | Album Review

Little Mix is a British girl group who were formed in 2011 during the eighth series of  The X Factor UK . They were the first group to win the competition and they signed with  Simon Cowell 's record label  Syco Music  and released a cover of  Damien Rice 's ' Cannonball ' as their winner's single. It has been all over Social Media that they have now left Syco Music and have signed a contract with RCA Records UK who seems to have a big 18-month contract with loads of things planned. The group consists of Jade Thirlwall ,  Perrie Edwards ,  Leigh-Anne Pinnock , and  Jesy Nelson . Cheryl - Love Made Me Do It | Song Review

Cheryl is an English singer, songwriter and television personality. She rose to fame in late 2002 upon winning a place in Girls Aloud , a girl group created through ITV 's Popstars: The Rivals . While still in the group, she began a solo career in April 2009, and between then and 2014, she released four studio albums – ' 3 Words ' (2009), ' Messy Little Raindrops ' (2010), ' A Million Lights ' (2012) and ' Only Human ' (2014). Collectively, the albums included ten singles, five of which – ' Fight for This Love ', ' Promise This ', ' Call My Name ', ' Crazy Stupid Love ' and ' I Don't Care ' – reached the top position on the UK Singles Chart. Cheryl is back with a new single calle

Little Mix - Told You So | Song Review

Little Mix has released another promotional single called ' Told You So ' from their upcoming album, LM5, which is being released this Friday the 16th November! I am very excited for this album, even with the rumours that have been going around recently. This album seems to be so different from their previous albums - each song seems different and I am very excited to review the album! ' Told You So ' has an acoustic feel to the song and the song is all about friendship. Their inspiration is most likely from their own friendship - they have been through so much in the 7 (nearly 8) years they have been together. It is so refreshing for them to be singing about their friendship - you can hear and see that their friendship is so strong. It is surprising that they didn't know each other before they were formed by Kelly Rowland on The X-Factor UK in 2011. This group was meant to be put together, it was fate. Their vocals are amazing, like always. I hav

Ashley Tisdale - Voices In My Head | Song Review

Ashley Tisdale is best known for her character in High School Musical , Sharpay Evans. However, she has worked on a ton of different shows and has previously released 2 studio albums called ' Headstrong ' and ' Guilty Pleasure ' and many singles over the years. She has been most popular in the last couple of years through her YouTube videos where she does covers of songs. She is back with her new single called ‘ Voices in My Head ’ which is her debut single from her upcoming album ‘Symptoms’. At the time of writing this, I believe a release date for the album hasn’t been published. 'Symptoms' is the third album by the actress and singer Ashley Tisdale . The upcoming album is pop-electro and upbeat. Ashley hasn’t released an album since 2009’s Guilty Pleasure , which debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200. I’m not going to lie, I have never listened to Ashley ’s music before. I only know the classic High School Musical songs but it so refreshing hearing her nat

Ariana Grande - thank u, next | Song Review

After releasing her fourth studio album in August of 2018, Ariana Grande has released the lead single from her fifth studio album which she announced will be coming soon. The album will be called 'thank u, next'. The name of the new single is what the album is named after, ' thank u, next '. This single seems a lot more mature and following the same route as her previous studio album 'Sweetener'. Ariana has become more personal with her music - speaking about things that have been brought up in the press. For example, her relationships and breakups and with this new track, she speaks about them and actually puts their names in the song - which I think takes a lot of courage. With this song and album, she wanted her fans and other people to know she is not slandering her ex's at all. If anything, she is thankful for them because they were the people who made her who she is now. She doesn't want her new music to seem like she is 'bashing' or b
