Lo Fi Ho Hum's Debut Album 'Garage Pop': A Journey from Montana to Fort Collins

Started in a shop in Montana and taking its new form in Fort Collins, Lo Fi Ho Hum is anything but. The project began as a solo endeavour by Jacob Godbey, who spent years crafting songs in his father’s shop in Lewistown, MT. Today, Lo Fi Ho Hum has evolved into a vibrant, collaborative project—a musical love letter to Fort Collins and other communities Godbey once called home.

Initially conceived in isolation, the music of Lo Fi Ho Hum has grown into an ode to collaboration. Godbey attributes much of the band's current and future success to Fort Collins' own The Music District. This community hub has been instrumental in providing the members and resources necessary to bring Lo Fi Ho Hum to life, turning it into a shared creative endeavour.

Balancing the tranquil solitude and appreciation for a slower-paced lifestyle instilled by his Montana roots with the more metropolitan resources available in Fort Collins, Godbey strives to honour his inspirations with local ties—punk legends like Black Flag and Descendents. Drawing from the methodologies of Dave Grohl and Bill Stevenson, Godbey, primarily a drummer, brings a unique perspective to songwriting. His approach involves writing all parts of the music, resulting in compositions that break free from typical formulas, ensuring each song has a distinctive voice.

Authenticity lies at the heart of Lo Fi Ho Hum. Their debut album, 'Garage Pop,' is a testament to this ethos. Consisting of 19 minutes of music spread across 7 carefully selected and crafted songs, Godbey ensures that each track is a piece he fully believes in. The band's aim is to release music that resonates deeply with them, hoping it will connect with listeners who will, in turn, share it with others.

In its live incarnation, Lo Fi Ho Hum features Jacob Godbey on vocals and guitar, Adam Daugherty on guitar, Maddi on drums, and Shiloh Daricek on bass. Their dynamic performances are set to leave a lasting impression, with the band’s energy and passion palpable in every note.

Fans can look forward to the release of their single “Never Been In Love” on June 21st, 2024, followed by the full debut album 'Garage Pop' on August 2nd, 2024. With plans to continue making memorable music, Lo Fi Ho Hum aims to be a band that stays with you, much like the enduring appeal of Foo Fighters or The Strokes.

Keep an eye on Lo Fi Ho Hum as they carve out their place in the music scene, creating tunes that will make you hum along for years to come.
