Fleur East - Favourite Thing | Song Review

Fleur East is a singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, and fitness model based in England. She competed on the second series of  The X Factor in 2005 as a member of the girl group but later returned to The X Factor as a solo artist in 2014 for its eleventh series, where she placed runner-up. She became the show's first contestant to reach number one on the UK iTunes Store chart during the competition with her performance of 'Uptown Funk' (originally by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars). She has also recently competed in 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here' where she placed 4th.

Fleur released her debut album in 2015 called 'Love, Sax and Flashbacks' which spawned her smash hit 'Sax'. Unfortunately, shortly after, Fleur went quiet and didn't release any new music until now where she has released her highly anticipated single, 'Favourite Thing'.

I think Fleur and her team chose the perfect time to release new music! While Fleur was fresh in peoples mind from her time in the Jungle. But no doubt she had a strong fan base before.

'Favourite Thing' honours her African heritage through the song and the music video. I really like the song, it follows the theme she had within her debut album - fun and full of energy - but you can still hear and see a progression. It is a very catchy song, I was singing along on the second listen of the song but it is infused with trendy Afrobeats and Pop.

The visuals/music video for the song is also really good - she really slayed in those outfits. Fans of Fleur can also expect her second studio album to be released later in 2019 and it is promised to be more experimental than her debut album.

I am really excited to see what kind of music Fleur will be releasing and I will certainly be supporting her in the future. Expect to see an album review or future single reviews somewhere on Thomathy Entertainment.
