Emerging from six challenging years in the shelter system, Dynesti’s journey is as inspiring as her sound. She refined her craft through creative programs such as SKETCH Working Arts, RISE Edutainment, Unity, Manifesto, and Honey Jam. This hard work has seen her share stages with luminaries like Sean Paul, Dax, and Talib Kweli. Beyond performing, she channels her experience into live performance coaching and workshops, offering trauma-informed artistic development across disciplines, genres, and backgrounds.

Following the 2021 EP Say Grace, Dynesti is now rolling out singles leading up to her genre-fusing Breakfast LP, a compelling collection that shares life-altering stories of love, relationships, womanhood, community, and healing, told through the lens of a Black girl from a broken home.

Her latest single, Honey, is a sweet antidote for those tired of the relentless grind of adulting. When life becomes stressed and bitter, Dynesti offers a remedy: put some honey in it. Having experienced six years of homelessness, she intimately understands the struggle of stretching a dollar and pushing through adversity. Faced with soaring costs and setbacks, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, but Honey reminds us to shift the mood and add a little love to life.

The song’s title resonates deeply with Dynesti herself, as her legal name, Melissa, means bumble bee, and she has learned to find the ‘honey’ in every situation. In this empowering new track, the queen bee encourages listeners to seek sweetness and joy amid hardship and to hive together with their ‘fam’ to get through tough times. Like bees, we can work diligently, do it with love, and create something beautifully sweet.
