Sage Marie Releases Moving New Single "Yellow Ladybug"
Sage Marie is an emerging indie pop folk artist who has been steadily gaining attention in the music scene through a sound that blends warmth, honesty and emotionally driven songwriting. As an independent musician who produces her own work, she has built her path without relying on traditional industry structures, which has led to a growing number of opportunities and an increasingly engaged audience.
She has performed at Federation Square and recently appeared on local television, both moments marking important steps in her developing career. These experiences have helped bring her music to a wider audience while maintaining the personal, self-directed approach that defines her work.
Her single Yellow Ladybug, released on 25 April 2026 (ANZAC Day), is her most personal release to date. She wrote the song in memory of her grandmother, who passed away from cancer on the same date one year earlier. The track reflects that experience of loss and the process of turning grief into something creative and lasting.
Sage Marie has explained that the song was part of how she processed her bereavement, shaping it into something meaningful rather than keeping it private. That intention carries through into the release strategy as well. All proceeds from radio play, streaming and views are being donated to Cancer Council Australia. She is also selling Yellow Ladybug keychains through Bandcamp, with a portion of those sales also going to the charity.
With the single now out, Yellow Ladybug stands as both a personal tribute and a contribution to a cause that affects many families.
