Fredrik Norlindh and 25 Colleagues Come Together for “All About the Music”

There are office projects, and then there are the ones that turn into something bigger than anyone expected. All About the Music is one of those.

It started in a fairly ordinary way. A group of colleagues realised that their workplace was full of musicians and artists as well as their day jobs. People were quietly involved in music across a wide range of genres, from hip-hop and pop to black metal, indie rock, country, punk and jazz. That only became clear once they started talking properly at lunch.

Around the same time, the documentary The Greatest Night in Pop kept coming up in conversation. The story behind “We Are the World” made a strong impression. It led to a simple idea. What if something like that could be created within this group, in a way that included everyone?

That idea came from Fredrik Norlindh, who suggested turning it into a real song rather than just a thought. A piece that would include every voice, every instrument and every style in the group.

That became All About the Music.

The track is built around shared creativity. It includes multiple solo vocalists, a large choir, saxophone, grand piano, strings, percussion and full rock instruments. Instead of forcing everything into one style, it lets each part stand on its own and find its place in the mix.

The people involved come from very different musical backgrounds. Alongside Fredrik Norlindh there are contributions from LadieLex, David Aphonic, Gustaf Bonde, Jesse Leroy, Nestee!, Roos, Steglös, Fredrik Ramberg and Monika Glimskär, along with many others, making up around 25 colleagues in total.

Because of that mix, the song moves naturally between genres. You can hear hints of hip-hop, pop, jazz, punk and rock, sometimes all within the same sections. It does not settle into one clear category. It feels more like a shared space where different styles meet.

There is also a subtle ABBA-like feel in parts of it, not as imitation but in the sense of strong melodies and clear emotion. It has a slightly retro modern pop sound, polished but still very human.

What stands out most is how naturally it came together. With so many people involved, it could easily have become messy. Instead, it works because everyone contributed something real from their own background.

At its core, All About the Music is not about making everyone sound the same. It is about what happens when different voices are allowed to exist together in one song.
