MAMI UMAMI: AFTER WORK and the uncompromising focus of “Conor”

MAMI UMAMI return with After Work, a new EP that reflects pressure, exhaustion and movement through modern life. Following a run of strong live shows, the Malmö-based duo continue to develop their sound at the meeting point of chaos and control. The project has been shaped over two years of late nights, ongoing conversations and a world that rarely slows down.

Across After Work, MAMI UMAMI deal with burnout, expectations and the shift into adulthood. These themes are not treated as distant ideas but as everyday experience. The EP works both as a personal release and as a wider reflection of a generation trying to navigate responsibility, uncertainty and constant connection.

Musically, the EP moves between electronic music, hip-hop, punk and drum and bass. The energy is direct and rhythmic, but there is also space for reflection underneath it. The lyrics move between personal and collective perspectives, often blurring the line between the two.

At the centre of the EP is “Conor”, the energetic focus track of AFTERWork from Roskilde Festival, where MAMI UMAMI have been booked as a hyped live band known for intense performances.

The track is fast and uncompromising. It mixes absurd one-liners and internet influenced aesthetics with a more thoughtful core. While it feels immediate and loud, there is also a clear shift towards something more reflective.

The perspective moves from the individual to the collective, touching on shared responsibility and belonging. “Conor” shifts between English and Swedish, which adds to its sense of movement and directness without overexplaining anything.

For listeners drawn to Kneecap, hyperpop and urban beats, the track sits in a space where energy and meaning exist side by side.

With After Work, MAMI UMAMI continue to push across genres while keeping the live energy that defines their shows. The EP captures contradiction rather than resolving it, balancing exhaustion with momentum and humour with seriousness. It reflects a world that feels overloaded but still in motion.

MAMI UMAMI is a Malmö-based duo consisting of Jaquelin Elamiri (Miss Mami) and Leonard Furby. Coming from the Swedish underground scene, they create a sound where hip-hop, pop and club music collide.

Their work sits between control and chaos, shaped by life in a fast moving and hyperconnected society. Since their debut Söndagsångest (2024), they have built a reputation as a live act where the line between concert and performance often disappears.
