Lukka Embraces Duality on New Single ‘Tomboi’ Ahead of Third Album "Wendekind"

Lukka returns with “Tomboi”, the second single from her upcoming third album Wendekind, due out on 5 June. The track gives an early sense of the record’s direction, both in its themes and its expanding sonic palette.

Speaking about the single, Lukka explains: “‘Tomboi’ is about tapping into both your masculine and feminine sides and actually loving that mix. I feel it’s a self-celebration of my Gemini energy, leaning into that duality and just owning it.” The song reflects that idea of balance rather than conflict, treating contrast as something to embrace rather than resolve.

Musically, “Tomboi” builds on the foundations of her 2022 sophomore album Something Human while moving further into immersive, synth-driven territory. It blends steady, hypnotic grooves with layered textures and a more expansive production style, pointing towards a broader and more exploratory sound.

Wendekind was recorded at Transmitter Park Studios in Brooklyn and produced by Abe Seiferth, known for his work with National of Language, Neon Indian and Guerilla Toss. His production brings clarity and depth to Lukka’s increasingly psychedelic approach, allowing the arrangements to feel both detailed and open.

Lukka’s sound is defined by hypnotic repetition, melody-led songwriting and atmospheric production. Rather than relying on constant change, her music often builds through subtle shifts in texture and mood. The core lineup includes bassist Ashley Gonzalez and drummer Simon “SiFi” Fishburn. Together, they form a tightly focused ensemble built on driving bass lines, propulsive rhythms, delayed guitars and layered analogue synths.

With “Tomboi”, Lukka continues to refine her artistic identity while pushing her sound forward. The single stands as both a personal statement and a clear step into the wider world of Wendekind.
