Beyond his own music, Ryan supports independent artists through RD Music Collective, helping them gain playlist exposure and grow their audiences.

So Close, But Never Near was written in early November 2024, as the crispness of fall gave way to winter. Sitting alone at the piano, Ryan crafted lyrics that reflect on love, silence, closeness, and distance. The song tells the story of two people who remain together yet gradually drift apart, capturing the experience of sharing the same space while feeling emotionally distant. It is not about blame but about the quiet space that can develop even in loving relationships.

With imagery of rainy windows, fading conversations, and a sandcastle washed away by the tide, the song conveys both the beauty and the ache of love that lingers but struggles to survive. At its core, it asks a tender and reflective question: why do we stay when connection fades? Listeners are invited to lean into their own memories and emotions, finding resonance in the delicate tension of intimacy and solitude.

The arrangement, created by Mumbai-based pianist and composer Tony Dias, is intentionally stripped back, featuring piano, strings, and gentle percussion. There is no heavy production or layered vocals. Instead, the focus is on raw emotion, carried purely by melody.

With So Close, But Never Near, Ryan Dsouza continues to establish himself as an artist capable of blending heartfelt storytelling with nuanced musicality, offering listeners a deeply personal and universally relatable experience.
