Dontae’s Peak Unveils Captivating New Single “Karma”

Dontae’s Peak, born Dontaé Jareel Pelzer in Mount Vernon and raised in the Queen City, Poughkeepsie, NY, has spent over a decade developing a voice that is unmistakably his own. A genre-fluid artist moving between Hip-Hop and R&B, he is a storyteller who blends light and darkness into music that feels cinematic, vulnerable, and visionary.

His love of music began in the early 2000s, shaped by the raw emotion of Paramore and the 90s R&B playlists of his mother. As a teenager, he started turning feelings into words alongside close collaborator Calvin “Cal” McCants, forming a creative partnership built on introspection and experimentation.

Previously known as Jay Jefe, Dontae’s Peak has worked in studios including Atlantic Records NYC and collaborated with producers and artists such as Bizness Boi, Wondagurl, and Adé. He has performed at venues like Blackthorn 51 and Amityville Music Hall, earning recognition for his immersive and emotive performances.

His earlier conceptual project, BLKLITE, explored the duality of the human mind, touching on mental health, trauma, and self-discovery over brooding production from David Sisko and DanielOnTheTrack. Now, as Dontae’s Peak, he approaches music with a clear focus and renewed purpose: to inspire perseverance through honesty and transparency.

Today, he releases his highly anticipated single, “Karma”, the first step in a release campaign stretching through 2027. The track showcases Dontae’s Peak at his creative best, a reminder that nothing escapes the black light and every hardship holds hidden growth. With Karma, he confirms himself as a bold, introspective voice in contemporary music, unafraid to explore the shadows while lighting the way forward.

Listen to “Karma” now and experience Dontae’s Peak at his finest.
