Superstar Nomads Embrace the Unexpected on ‘A Mild Self-Poisoning’
Irish six-piece Superstar Nomads refuse to settle into one sound on their new EP, A Mild Self-Poisoning. Released on 9 October 2026, the five-track collection moves freely between alternative and classic rock, funk, Mediterranean-inspired indie and hazy, electronic chill.
That variety comes naturally to a group whose members bring different influences and ideas to the writing process. Superstar Nomads take a collaborative approach, allowing each musician to shape the direction of the songs. Rather than forcing those ideas into a single genre, the band lean into the contrasts and see where they lead.
It gives A Mild Self-Poisoning an unpredictable character. Catchy melodies sit alongside more experimental moments, while flashes of rock, funk and electronica prevent the EP from remaining in one place for too long. Even with such a wide range of styles, the project feels connected by the band’s willingness to play around and challenge the ordinary.
Superstar Nomads describe their mission as sprinkling “a bit of nomad” on the mundane to see what takes root. That outlook runs throughout the EP, with familiar musical foundations often pushed in less expected directions. The result is a release that captures the six-piece’s curiosity and refusal to be easily categorised.
The EP is accompanied by the single ‘Was I Really’, offering an introduction to the band’s latest chapter and their genre-fluid approach. Across all five tracks, A Mild Self-Poisoning shows a group more interested in following a good idea than fitting neatly into a particular scene.
Recorded and mixed by Fintan Scanlon, the EP was mastered by Travis Hill at Infaze Mastering. A Mild Self-Poisoning is available now on Spotify, Apple Music and other major streaming platforms, with physical CDs also being made available through Bandcamp.
