Dafties Team Up with Kid Reed on "Lawnchair.exe" as Breakout Momentum Continues Toward Upcoming EP "Tea"

Dafties continue their rise with the release of their new single “Lawnchair.exe (Feat. Kid Reed)”, a collaboration with rapper and AEW pro wrestler Myron Reed. The track is set for release on 21 June 2026 and arrives as the duo builds anticipation for their forthcoming EP Tea, due in Q3 2026.

Launched in November 2024, Dafties are an alternative pop-rock duo from Wigan, Greater Manchester. In their breakout year, they released five singles, a live recorded track distributed by Ameritz, and a 10-track mixtape titled Crying Lafter, all between November 2024 and September 2025. During that time, they also passed 150,000 Spotify streams, gaining support from stations including BBC Radio and Amazing Radio USA, alongside other local and international outlets. Their appearance on the Ameritz Radar podcast highlighted the origins of their creative partnership, while their growing reputation was reinforced by a series of raw and intimate live performances across Northern England. They recently sold out their first headline show at The Old Courts, further cementing their status as an emerging live force. Warrington Worldwide described them as “Lily Allen meets Sonic Youth”, a comparison that reflects their blend of sharp lyricism and gritty alternative sound, which they refer to as “grit-pop”.

Lawnchair.exe (Feat. Kid Reed) marks the first official collaboration between Dafties and Kid Reed, although the pair have known each other since 2014. Connor Taylor of Dafties and Reed initially connected through shared interests in music and wrestling marketing projects, and over the years, they have remained close collaborators and friends. After more than a decade of discussion, this release finally brings that relationship into the studio in full.

The single also connects to Reed’s wider profile in professional wrestling, with his expected appearance at AEW All In London at Wembley Stadium in August adding further attention to the collaboration. The track itself blends indie pop, alternative rock and hip-hop, taking inspiration from early 2000s American crossover records that often featured rap and rock fusion. Built on bright summer production with shakers and saxophone elements, it delivers an energetic sound that contrasts with its more reflective subject matter.

At its core, Lawnchair.exe uses the American term “lawnchair” as a metaphor for being folded out, leaned on and left out when someone better comes along. The song focuses on self-worth and the experience of recognising one-sided friendships. Rae of Dafties describes the opening lyric, “You only like me for my drunk thoughts”, as capturing the feeling of being used as emotional backup or entertainment rather than being valued as a priority. The track is ultimately about reaching the point where that dynamic is no longer accepted.

The single also works as a companion piece to Blame The Weather from Dafties’ 2025 mixtape Crying Lafter. Both songs explore similar emotional territory, but Lawnchair.exe revisits the theme from a more reflective perspective, focusing on growth, acceptance and moving on rather than immediate reaction.

Taken as a whole, the release shows a clear step forward for Dafties both musically and conceptually. It expands their “grit-pop” identity while reinforcing the storytelling approach that has defined their early catalogue. With Tea on the horizon, Lawnchair.exe (Feat. Kid Reed) offers a strong indication of the direction they are heading, and confirms that Dafties are continuing to build momentum with a sound that is both personal and increasingly confident.
