Desii Stone’s “Jukebox”: A Quietly Confident Step in Her Evolution
Desii Stone’s single Jukebox captures a moment of artistic clarity for the Charlotte-born singer-songwriter, reflecting years of development, patience, and self-directed growth in the music industry.
Raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Desii Stone has been immersed in music from an exceptionally young age. She began singing at just three years old and was already writing her own material by the age of ten. Her early talent became impossible to ignore. At fourteen, she entered a recording studio for the first time and recorded a track that would go on to attract significant industry attention, ultimately resulting in two major record deal offers from Warner Bros. Records and Sony Music Entertainment Inc.
At that stage of her career, she was performing under the name Dezeray. Despite the opportunity to step directly into the mainstream industry, she chose not to sign either deal. Instead, she made the uncommon decision to continue developing her craft independently, taking time to understand the business and refine her sound on her own terms. Later, she re-emerged as Desii Stone at the age of eighteen, marking a new and more intentional artistic identity.
In 2012, she met fellow artist Yung Poca and together they formed the duo Rhilei Kemin. The project was built around a shared principle of staying authentic and refusing to compromise identity for success. While the collaboration eventually ended so both artists could grow individually, it played an important role in shaping Desii Stone’s approach to music and creativity.
After relocating to Atlanta in 2018, she released her debut solo mixtape The Effect on her birthday, signalling the start of her solo chapter. Over the following year, she continued to build momentum with a series of singles and another mixtape, working with producers including Metro Boomin and collaborating with Tuki Carter of Taylor Gang.
It is within this wider journey that Jukebox sits. The track reflects an artist who has taken her time, learned the industry from the inside out, and developed a sound rooted in experience rather than trend-chasing. There is a sense of control and intention in the way she approaches her music, and Jukebox feels like a natural extension of that mindset.
Desii Stone is currently working on both an EP and a full album, continuing to build a catalogue that reflects steady growth rather than rushed output. Jukebox stands as a snapshot of where she is now: confident in her direction, grounded in her history, and focused on what comes next.
