Władek Sheen Unveils New Single “hypnotize”
Władek Sheen, a Korean Uzbekistani independent artist hailing from Tashkent, returns with his latest single “hypnotize”, a track that elegantly bridges his alternative rock roots with lush, baroque-infused indie pop.
Best known as a founding member of the alternative rock band Cruel Tie, Sheen has carved out a reputation as a dynamic performer. Since forming the band in 2011, he has played hundreds of shows across stages big and small, with a notable highlight being Cruel Tie’s appearance as support for The Jesus and Mary Chain in 2018. In recent years, however, Sheen has begun to pursue his own creative path, embarking on a solo journey that expands far beyond the noise rock and punk leanings of his band. Since 2023, his solo releases have explored a kaleidoscope of sounds, from britpop and shoegaze to synthwave, baroque pop, and alt-pop.
“hypnotize” finds Sheen weaving romance into his sonic experiments. With its retro flair and influences drawn from indie rock, dream pop, and britpop in the style of Blur, the track unfolds as a heartfelt confession. It captures the magnetic intensity of infatuation, that spellbound state where every look and movement from the beloved feels impossible to ignore. Sheen heightens this sense of longing through orchestral, baroque-inspired arrangements, which enrich the track’s dreamy atmosphere and lend it a hypnotic quality true to its name.
Accompanying the single is a reimagined version of “goodbye”, one of Sheen’s earlier britpop ballads. Originally released with intentionally lo-fi production, the track now emerges in a remastered form, offering a brighter, more polished sound that leans closer to the mainstream while retaining its heartfelt essence.
With “hypnotize”, Władek Sheen continues to affirm his versatility as a songwriter and musician. It is a release that demonstrates not only his command of style and mood but also his ability to infuse timeless emotions with fresh sonic textures.
