Lexytron Release New Single ‘Elevator’ – A Synth-Pop Bop with Bite
Lexy & Mike, the creatively offbeat English husband and wife duo making waves from their base in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), New Zealand. Together, they form the beating heart of Lexytron, a project that thrives on boundary-pushing soundscapes and sharp lyrical wit.
Following the release of her genre-bending debut album Something Blue, lead singer and songwriter Lexy has slipped into something more daring with its follow-up, Something New. Where the first record explored eclectic indie textures, this new body of work sees her embracing an electronic edge without losing the sardonic humour, soaring choruses and painful honesty that have already become her trademark. Entirely self-produced in Auckland and polished to perfection by London producer Marco Meloni, the album straddles the line between alt-pop and rock with playful confidence.
The first two singles, Kiss Me Quick and Disco Jenny, quickly caught international attention, earning Lexytron glowing reviews and interviews with Illustrate Magazine (New York), the ‘My Views Are My Own’ podcast (Nashville), and Kick Arts (Auckland). Now, with the arrival of third single Elevator, Lexytron take another bold step upwards.
Described as “the missing song from every 80s John Hughes movie,” Elevator is a fizzing coming-of-age synth-pop anthem. It is the sound of teenage bedrooms and glittering dancefloors, of bouncing on beds and spinning atop kitchen tables, a track brimming with nostalgia yet unafraid to punch forward into the present. With its effervescent hooks and shimmering production, the song captures that fleeting rush of escape and elevation, cementing Lexytron’s ability to balance playfulness with raw emotional pull.
As Something New continues to unfold, Elevator confirms that Lexy & Mike are not simply revisiting familiar formulas. They are reinventing them, pushing pop into unexpected corners while retaining an irresistible sense of fun.
