Hogleone’s New Single ‘Something Else’ Marks the Penultimate Step Towards ‘Many Waters’

Swedish-born American musician Hogleone, born Jorgen Hoglund, has once again captured attention with his latest single, Something Else. For those familiar with his musical journey, this release is a testament to decades of artistry and experience.

Hogleone’s career spans a rich tapestry of collaborations and international experiences. Early on, he played with groups such as Tres Coronas, Imperial Sounds, Jacarandas, and Gå Runt Show alongside Bernt Dahlbeck and Mia Adolfson. At just nineteen, he toured Mexico as lead guitarist with Little Gerhard and his Rocking G-men for a year, later continuing with Little Gerhard in the Swedish folkparks as Little Gerhard & Sunny Girls. His adventurous spirit then led him to form the group Tequila with Mexican musicians Renato Lopez, Rafael Sida, Pepe Ballote, and Britain’s Sam Marsden, a project that endured for four years before he emigrated to the USA. After releasing several albums, Hogleone stepped away from the music industry, an intermission he now refers to as “end of ancient history”.

A few years ago, Hogleone re-entered the world of music with renewed focus and creativity. Setting up a home recording studio, he embarked on a solo project where he assumed complete artistic control. Writing all the music and lyrics, performing every instrument, recording all vocals, arranging, producing, mixing, and mastering, he single-handedly crafted what will become his new album, Many Waters. The album, set for release in October 2025, will feature 11 singles, unveiled monthly. Earlier releases include the Swedish track Hoppas att du förstår (July 5, 2024), followed by I Believe in Love (September 6), Leaving it Up to You (October 3), and A Melody (November 8).

Something Else is the penultimate single ahead of Many Waters, a prelude to the album’s full unveiling on 3 October 2025. Available on YouTube here, the track begins with a funky indie rock vibe, gradually building in complexity as layers of rhythm and harmony are introduced. The song evolves into a richly textured soundscape, weaving multiple interwoven themes that culminate in a grand, almost symphonic experience. A soaring guitar solo propels the track toward a majestic, powerful conclusion. With every instrumental part performed by Hogleone himself, Something Else carries a deeply personal and authentic resonance, reflecting the singular vision of an artist who has truly mastered his craft.

For fans eagerly anticipating Many Waters, Something Else is both a tantalising taste and a celebration of Hogleone’s remarkable musical journey, a journey that continues to surprise and inspire.
