pMad Releases Haunting New EP 'Trust Devoured': A Global Gothic Collaboration
Irish solo artist pMad, the Post-Punk, Gothic Indie Rock project from Paul Dillon of Portumna, Galway, returns with Trust Devoured, a powerful 3-track EP released on 19th July. It blends the haunting, atmospheric grit of his signature sound with the collaborative energy of an ambitious global project.
Drawing influence from a spectrum as wide as The The to Rammstein, pMad’s music merges brooding darkwave post-punk with the raw drive of metal-tinged indie rock. His previous releases, Who Why Where What and I in Power, showcased not only his captivating sonic palette but also his lyrical depth. These albums delve into themes of personal survival, growth, and critical global issues such as the Climate Crisis.
Now, with Trust Devoured, pMad takes that vision even further by stepping into the experimental realm of Exquisite Corpses, an imaginative international collaboration.
The Exquisite Corpses Project: A Global Creative Experiment
In partnership with Lunar Paths (UK/USA) and Killtoys (Australia), pMad is a key contributor to Exquisite Corpses, a boundary-pushing concept based on the surrealist parlour game of the same name. In the original game, participants would each add to a drawing or story without seeing what came before, leaving the final piece to chance and spontaneity.
This spirit of creative unpredictability lies at the heart of the musical project. Each artist independently contributed their ideas to a shared structure, weaving together their distinct styles while trusting the process and each other.
Trust Devoured – A Trilogy of Sonic Intensity
pMad’s contribution to this experimental collaboration takes shape in the form of Trust Devoured, an EP that includes three distinct tracks:
-
“Feed” – The track that sparked the entire collaboration. Driven by urgent percussion and layered with post-punk tension, “Feed” is a potent standalone piece, rich with pMad’s dark energy and sonic precision.
-
“Closer” (featuring Killtoys) – A fierce and electrifying reimagining. With Killtoys’ Australian industrial edge folded in, “Closer” intensifies the emotional and sonic landscape.
-
“Celestial” (featuring Lunar Paths) – Dreamlike yet unsettling, this interpretation brings an ethereal UK/USA-infused texture, merging haunting vocals and ambient gothic waves into pMad’s foundational rhythm.
Together, these tracks reflect the fragmented yet unified nature of Exquisite Corpses. Three voices create something far more than the sum of its parts.
A Vision Beyond Borders
With Trust Devoured, pMad not only deepens his exploration of dark, introspective themes but also pushes the limits of collaborative creativity. The EP embodies a shared global vision, uniting underground artists across continents in a compelling experiment in trust, distortion, and beauty.
Whether you're a long-time fan of gothic post-punk or new to pMad’s genre-defying work, Trust Devoured is a must-listen. It stands as both an individual artistic statement and part of a wider international conversation about how music can transcend borders.
Trust Devoured is out now on all major platforms. Dive into the darkness. Let it devour you.
