Georgie Najar Finds Clarity in New Single “Whatever” Ahead of EP
New York singer-songwriter Georgie Najar returns with her new single “Whatever”, the first glimpse of her upcoming EP Need to Know, due 29th May. The project follows her recent Comfort in the Pain EP and signals a clear step forward in her writing, with a stronger sense of control and clarity running through the material.
“Whatever” begins in frustration, shaped by the feeling of being overlooked despite effort. Rather than staying there, the song moves quickly into something more composed. It reflects a shift in Najar’s approach, where emotional tension is not drawn out but distilled into something direct and intentional.
That focus carries through the EP as a whole. The four tracks were written across different periods and later shaped through collaboration, but they sit together with a clear sense of cohesion. The writing favours restraint over excess, allowing each song to feel purposeful and self-contained.
To mark the release, Najar will perform at The Bitter End in New York City on 21st May, offering an early live preview of the project before it officially arrives.
Raised in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Najar began writing songs in her early teens as a private outlet. Her influences include artists such as Lizzy McAlpine, Noah Kahan and Phoebe Bridgers, alongside classic songwriters like Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, all of whom share a focus on precise, emotionally grounded writing.
Now a student at the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City, she continues to balance acting with music. After stepping back during a difficult period in her early teens, she returned to songwriting with a more defined voice, first heard on her debut release “Skin and Bone”.
With Need to Know, Georgie Najar continues to refine that direction. “Whatever” captures the tone of the project well, built on control, clarity and a growing confidence in saying less but meaning more.
