Heisenberg Principle’s New Single ‘Bachelor of the Year’: An Ode to the Ordinary Bloke
Bendigo-based singer-songwriter Greg Stehle, under his musical project Heisenberg Principle, has released a fresh new single, Bachelor of the Year. True to the spirit of Heisenberg Principle - blending indie rock with eclectic sounds - the track dives into the uncertainties of life and the complicated world of human relationships, much like the quantum theory from which the project takes its name.
Greg’s musical journey is as diverse as it is inspiring. With a foundation in jazz saxophone and classical violin, he has performed in three symphony orchestras, fronted two original bands, and blown blues harmonica with gritty passion. When the COVID-19 lockdowns struck, it sparked a new chapter: armed with a guitar and a library of online tutorials, Greg taught himself to play, unlocking a prolific songwriting streak that has produced over 60 original tracks.
His forthcoming debut album, Icarus - set for release in 2025 - promises 11 songs drawn from a lifetime rich with wild adventures and deep personal connections. Greg’s eclectic life experiences, from once ranking No. 2 in Australia for Sabre fencing, to making over 30 short films, raising a family, and earning two master’s degrees, all feed into his emotionally layered, lyrically sharp songwriting.
Influenced by artists such as Wet Leg, Paul Kelly, Maggie Rogers, and even the hard-hitting AC/DC, Heisenberg Principle’s music serves up catchy melodies and compelling storytelling. Each track is an unpredictable journey through the chaos and beauty of existence.
Bachelor of the Year stands out as a heartfelt anthem for the everyman - those who may not fit the picture-perfect mould, but who have so much more to offer beneath the surface. In an age where popular music often skewers the male character, with artists like Taylor Swift and Chappell Roan leading the charge (perhaps not without good reason), Greg’s new single offers a gentle, cheeky counterpoint. It’s a reminder that not all guys are villains; many are simply good, honest blokes doing their best.
With Bachelor of the Year, Heisenberg Principle invites listeners to celebrate the ordinary heroes - with all their flaws, humour, and humanity intact.
