Hogleone’s ‘Who You Are’: A Fusion of Rhythm and Reflection

Hogleone (Jorgen Hoglund), an American musician born in Sweden, has long been a seasoned presence in the world of music. His extensive career has seen him perform with acts such as Tres Coronas, Imperial Sounds, Jacarandas, and Gå Runt Show alongside Bernt Dahlbeck and Mia Adolfson. At just nineteen, he took on the role of lead guitarist for Little Gerhard and his Rocking G-men in Mexico, later continuing his journey with Little Gerhard & Sunny Girls in Sweden’s folk parks. His musical ventures also led him to form Tequila with Mexican friends Renato Lopez, Rafael Sida, Pepe Ballote, and British musician Sam Marsden.

After years of experience in various groups, Hogleone eventually relocated to the United States, where he recorded several albums before stepping away from the industry for a time. However, his passion for music never faded. A few years ago, he re-entered the scene, this time as a solo artist, taking complete creative control. Establishing his own home recording studio, he embarked on an ambitious project—an album titled Many Waters, set for release in 2025. The album consists of 11 singles, released monthly, showcasing his multifaceted talent as he single-handedly writes, performs, records, produces, mixes, and masters each track.

Among these releases, Who You Are stands out as a rhythmically dynamic, guitar-driven rock piece infused with Latin influences. The track features an engaging combination of a strong rhythmic backbone, a string ensemble, and a Latin percussion section, all complemented by a distinctive 80s-style wah-wah guitar. This instrumental blend crescendos into a compelling solo before culminating in the final verse. The song’s introspective lyrics explore themes of identity and self-discovery, perfectly aligning with its evocative title.

With Who You Are and the rest of Many Waters, Hogleone continues to prove that his artistry and musical vision remain as vibrant as ever. Each release not only reflects his deep-rooted experience but also showcases his ability to evolve and innovate - an artist fully in control of his craft.
