Dinky Bossetti: A New Era with 'Pink, White & Blue'
Newcastle’s own DIY Riot Grrrl punk trio, Dinky Bossetti, are back with a fresh offering of raw energy and unapologetic attitude. Following the success of their debut EP Trans Sister Radio in December 2023, the band are set to release their latest EP, Pink, White & Blue, on Friday 31st January 2025. Having played around 20 shows since their debut last summer, supporting the likes of Skating Polly, Death Valley Girls, and Mouses, they have firmly cemented themselves within the underground punk scene. Their performances have taken them to venues such as The Cluny, Trillians, Little Buildings, NE Volume Bar, and The Globe, where they have delivered their signature blend of riotous, politically charged punk rock.
Drawing inspiration from legendary bands like Babes In Toyland, Hole, Bikini Kill, and The Distillers, Dinky Bossetti have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Their music speaks to the frustrations of modern life, tackling themes of toxic masculinity, corrupt politicians, and the realities of being LGBTQIA+ today. Their unfiltered lyricism and relentless energy have earned them praise from publications such as NARC, NE Volume, and The Crack, helping to spread their message even further.
Despite their love for Trans Sister Radio, the band acknowledge that they have evolved significantly since its release. With the arrival of new drummer Chris, their sound has become tighter and more dynamic, pushing them to new heights both musically and as performers. Speaking on the transition, they reflect that Pink, White & Blue captures exactly who they are in this moment. The songs remain raw and full of live energy, but they also showcase a refinement that comes from months of gigging and honing their craft.
The EP’s title is more than just a nod to the trans flag; it is also a reflection of the band’s individual identities. The pink represents she/her pronouns, the white symbolises they/them, and the blue signifies he/him. While the band started as an all-trans group, they have been vocal about the importance of true inclusivity. Chris, as a cisgender heterosexual man, has been embraced as an integral part of the band, proving that allyship and representation go hand in hand.
Pink, White & Blue is a statement of intent. It is the sound of a band who know exactly who they are and what they want to say. It is punk in its purest form – honest, urgent, and completely alive. With their reputation growing and their music resonating with audiences, Dinky Bossetti are set to make 2025 their year.
