Dinah Jane (ft. Ty Dollar $ign & Marc. E Bassy) - Bottled Up | Song Review

Fifth Harmony member, Dinah Jane, has released her debut single which features Ty Dollar $ign and Marc. E Bassy called ‘Bottled Up’. Fifth Harmony announced their ‘hiatus’ in March 2018 to work on their solo projects. Through interviews since then, it seems like Fifth Harmony won’t be reuniting – unless it is under a different label.

Fifth Harmony was formed on The X-Factor USA in 2012 where they achieved third place. The band was originally a 5-piece group – Camila CabelloLauren JaureguiNormaniDinah Jane and Ally Brooke. However, Camila Cabello left the group in December 2016. As a 5-piece, they released 2 albums, ‘Reflection’ (2015) and ‘7/27’ (2016). Once Camila had left the group, the now 4-piece released their self-titled album 'Fifth Harmony' in 2017 – which was their last as a group.

During Dinah’s new song, she makes references to their (Fifth Harmony’s) most popular single ‘Work From Home’ which she has recently revealed in an interview ‘fans could call it the sister track of Work From Home’ which also featured Ty Dollar $ign.

The track is upbeat and high energy with some mid-tempo chords. The song is about bottling up feelings and emotions in romantic relationships which ends up with confronting them feelings.

Dinah has also revealed in an interview that she reckons this song is a bop – which I agree with. I like it a lot, more than I thought I would. For me, Dinah wasn’t a standout member of Fifth Harmony which makes me excited for her solo career. She can now do her own thing, the music she truly wants to make.

Bottled Up’ is a song I could dance too but it is also a song I could chill listening too. It isn’t too upbeat, it is quite a relaxing sound too.

The lyric video for the song I very aesthetically pleasing. With the appearances of Dinah and Ty Dollar $ign lip-syncing to their versus. I really like this style of lyric videos, it feels like it makes fans more excited for the actual music video – if there is going to be one…?

There has not been any update of Dinah’s debut album but I am sure there will be some kind of update soon! I am excited to see and hear what else Dinah has been working on.
