Zisei brings a darker edge to hyperpop on “LOST BOY”

Melbourne-based artist Zisei explores a high-energy, darker sound on “LOST BOY”, released on 30 October 2026. The track brings a chaotic edge to hyperpop, pairing its fast pace with an intense, cinematic mood that fits its Halloween release.

At 178 BPM, “LOST BOY” moves quickly, packing its energy into a punchy two minutes and 26 seconds. Heavy instrumentation and a horror-inspired atmosphere give the track a forceful feel. Zisei describes its sound as evoking the “beginnings of a divine wrath”, a fitting image for a release that leans into darkness and intensity.

The single marks a heavier direction within Zisei’s wider alternative sound. His music draws on the raw emotion of rock, atmospheric electronics and experimental production, with influences including Radiohead, Joji and Nothing But Thieves. Across his work, quieter, melancholic moments can give way to distorted, explosive passages.

After nearly a decade of writing and producing music, Zisei has built his work around themes of anxiety, isolation and the search for something better. Those ideas bring a vulnerable side to his unpredictable sound, while the contrast between intimacy and chaos gives his music room to feel cathartic.

As an independent artist, Zisei handles his own releases and promotion. “LOST BOY” shows him pushing towards a more chaotic, high-impact sound, bringing dark hyperpop energy into a compact release made for the end of October.
