Yunsae’s “Deja Vu” Brings a Darker Edge to Her Electro Pop

Yunsae’s “Deja Vu” brings a shadowy edge to her bright, detailed approach to electro pop. Punchy drums and a pulsing synth bassline keep the track moving, while a cheeky arpeggiator loops through the arrangement. Hyperpop-influenced synths add a glossy finish, giving the song a darker colour without losing its pop appeal.

Its spooky atmosphere might suit a Halloween playlist, but “Deja Vu” isn’t limited to the season. Fans of dance pop, electropop, synth pop and K-pop will find plenty to enjoy in its mix of sharp beats, restless electronics and catchy melodies.

Yunsae describes the world she sees as blue. That sensibility runs through her music, where transparent tones and sensuous sounds meet everyday language to make ordinary feelings seem special. Since her debut single, “Be Your Breeze”, she has developed a distinctive style across the EPs flowerain and when the stars align. Both releases helped establish her as an artist drawn to the meeting point between EDM and pure vocals, with an experimental streak of her own.

Her work also reaches beyond her solo releases. Yunsae has taken part in music projects for artists including Jeon Hyo-sung and MK of ONF, demonstrating her range as a singer-songwriter and producer. In 2021, she was selected for MUSE ON, a programme organised by the Korea Creative Content Agency to support emerging independent artists.

She reached a wider audience in early 2024 with “Way to You”, which climbed to number eight on Billboard Japan’s TikTok Weekly Top 20 chart. It was a notable moment for an artist who has continued to build her profile through self-directed, individual work.

Yunsae has spoken of wanting to leave beautiful melodies in the world and to keep going as a female producer. Those ambitions sit at the heart of her music: polished and colourful, yet shaped by a determination to make something that feels unmistakably her own. “Deja Vu” adds another shade to that world, pairing an infectious pulse with a sleek, slightly unsettling glow.
