leMeow Captures The Rush Of New Love On “I’m Gonna Love You”

Ottawa artist leMeow turns the feeling of a magical first night into a warm, cinematic pop song on her new single, “I’m Gonna Love You”, released on 16 October.

Built around soulful vocals and late-night lounge influences, the track follows the excitement of a new connection, when time seems to slow and a promising moment starts to feel like the beginning of something lasting. Its romantic lyrics give the song a film-like quality, reflecting leMeow’s wish to capture the thrill of falling for someone.

“I wanted to capture the feeling of one magical night,” she says. “Those early days when you’re falling for someone and everything feels so exciting. For a moment, it can feel like you’re living in your own romantic movie.”

That cinematic mood meets a distinctive vintage touch in the song’s production. Award-winning UK producer David Griffiths, whose credits include work with collaborators of The Prodigy, Primal Scream and Radiohead, shapes the track around leMeow’s modern pop sound. A 100-year-old rosewood xylophone adds an unusual texture, giving the arrangement a character all its own.

A vocalist and songwriter first, leMeow is known for bringing evocative storytelling together with distinctive instrumentation. Her music draws on sophisticated pop, soulful foundations and vintage textures, balancing a contemporary feel with a sense of timelessness. Broadcaster and music journalist Alan Cross has summed up her sound as “sultry coolness”.

“I’m Gonna Love You” follows recent singles “What I Want” and “Ghost Heart”. The latter has passed 60,000 Spotify streams and received airplay on CBC Radio, bringing further attention to the Ottawa artist.

With its lounge-inspired warmth and story of a night that might change everything, “I’m Gonna Love You” finds leMeow at her most romantic.
