Girls of the Internet Dive into Love and Climate Change on ‘Heavenly Sea’ Featuring EVA

Girls of the Internet return with ‘Heavenly Sea’, a soulful disco-house single featuring vocalist EVA and the first taste of the collective’s forthcoming album.

Built around the roots of house music, the track brings together warm dancefloor rhythms and the spirit of 1970s disco. EVA’s reverb-soaked vocals give it a rich, nostalgic feel, while the lyrics explore love and loss against the growing threat of climate change.

The idea emerged during a period of extreme summer temperatures. A studio conversation between EVA and Girls of the Internet founder Tom Kerridge turned towards polar bears losing their habitats, providing the starting point for the song. That sense of environmental uncertainty runs beneath the music without taking away from its soulful, uplifting character.

Its accompanying video was filmed in Walberswick, a small coastal village in Suffolk that has held personal meaning for Kerridge throughout his life. The area’s experience of coastal erosion, alongside the nearby heathland fires seen in 2026, gives the setting a direct connection to the themes behind the track.

‘Heavenly Sea’ arrives ahead of a run of UK and European live dates, including shows in Dublin, Berlin, Manchester and Brighton. Girls of the Internet have built a reputation for performances combining live vocals and instrumentation with Kerridge’s DJing, previously appearing at Glastonbury, The Warehouse Project, Hï Ibiza, Fabric, Printworks and Drumsheds.

Rather than following the usual DJ and producer format, the collective take a live-band approach to dance music. House remains at the centre, but their work also draws from disco, jazz, trip-hop and ambient music. It is an approach that has helped them gain more than 90 million streams across four albums and support from names including Gilles Peterson, Pete Tong, Jamie xx and Elton John.

Their debut album, SYRUP, was named among BBC Radio 6 Music’s Albums of the Year, while their music has led to remix work with artists including Moby, Quantic and UNKLE.

Released on 25 September, ‘Heavenly Sea’ begins a new chapter for Girls of the Internet. It offers a soulful and reflective look at a changing world while setting the tone for further singles and a new album expected in 2027.
