Veronica Powers Celebrates Her Family Legacy On “Old Hollywood”

Los Angeles performer Veronica Powers pays tribute to the glamour, history and enduring magic of her hometown on her new single, “Old Hollywood”.

Powers has often felt as though she was born in the wrong era. Her fascination with Hollywood’s golden age is deeply personal, shaped by the stories and photographs passed down through her creative family. Her grandmother, Jeanne Gray McDonald, was an actress, singer and pioneering radio and television personality, while her great-grandfather, Patrick Murphy, worked in special effects during the silent film era, including on Charlie Chaplin’s sets.

Although Powers never had the chance to meet either of them, their history gave her a lasting connection to the entertainment world that came before her. That connection sits at the heart of “Old Hollywood”, which was recorded at the iconic RealSongs studio in Hollywood.

The city may have changed over the years, but Powers’ affection for it remains.
