North London duo immaculate turn a familiar view and a special family memory into something musical on their new single, ‘Moons and Fireworks’.

With roots in Dublin, immaculate are a two-piece band made up of Brian Dorman and Violet Dorman. Brian takes care of lead and backing vocals, guitars, arrangements and much of the production, while Violet also features on lead and backing vocals. Brian handles most of the songwriting, although Violet brings her own moments of inspiration to the band’s music.

Their different musical journeys give immaculate an interesting dynamic. Brian describes himself as something of a late bloomer, having found music much later than might be expected, while Violet has been singing throughout her life. Together, they are developing a sound that moves across indie pop while occasionally stepping into post-punk and bringing in a sprinkling of 1980s influence.

‘Moons and Fireworks’ began with something much closer to home. The song was inspired by Brian’s daughter, her love of moons and fireworks at Halloween, and the view from where the family lives. It is a simple starting point, but one that gives the single a genuine sense of warmth and personality.
