DINKY’s “It’s Not About You” Sets the Tone for "Ghosts"

DINKY are a three-piece indie-rock band from the United Kingdom, known for their melodic songwriting, driving guitar sound and years of experience on the live circuit.

After spending many years performing across the UK and Ireland, the band built their reputation on the road before moving into the studio to begin work on their debut full-length album Falling Satellites. Recorded with acclaimed producer Andy Taylor (Editors and The Twang), the album introduced DINKY’s sound through a mix of infectious guitar riffs, hook-filled melodies and reflective storytelling, blending indie and alternative rock influences.

Following the release of Falling Satellites, the band returned to the studio to record their second album Open Letters. The record marked a clear progression in their songwriting and production. It was met with critical praise, supported heavily by BBC Introducing and received extensive international airplay, helping to expand their audience beyond the UK.

In 2023, DINKY released their third studio album Ghosts. The record marked an important moment in their career, continuing to build their presence across Europe and America while showcasing a more refined and focused sound. It reinforced their reputation for combining emotional depth with strong, melodic indie-rock songwriting.

The first single taken from Ghosts is “It’s Not About You”, released in 2023. The track captures the essence of the album, pairing direct lyrical themes with tight, guitar-led arrangements and memorable melodic hooks. It stands as a clear introduction to the tone and direction of Ghosts.

More recently, the band have announced plans for a 2026 release of a demos and rarities collection, offering listeners insight into earlier recordings and the evolution of their material. Alongside this, DINKY have begun work on their fifth studio album, continuing their steady creative momentum.

With each release, DINKY continue to strengthen their identity within the UK indie-rock scene, building a catalogue defined by consistency, melody and honest songwriting.
