Blond in Car Returns with Dreamy New Single “How To Be a Mystery” Featuring Jack Newsome

Robin Schorr, better known as Blond in Car, returns with her shimmering new single “How To Be a Mystery”, featuring singer-songwriter Jack Newsome. The dreamy duet explores desire, confidence, and the impossible attraction of falling for someone who seems completely out of reach.

The track is the second single from Blond in Car’s forthcoming album GLIDER, arriving this autumn via Create Music, and follows the acclaimed release “Bad Dad” featuring Missy Dabice of Mannequin Pussy. Produced by acclaimed indie artist and producer Jay Som, “How To Be a Mystery” combines sparkling dream pop textures with Schorr’s signature wit, vulnerability, and emotionally honest songwriting.

The inspiration for the song came while Schorr was watching model and actress Cara Delevingne effortlessly command attention at a Hollywood party. Fascinated by that level of confidence, she began imagining what it would feel like to be someone who knows they can have anyone they want, and what it would mean to love a person with that kind of power.

“I was fascinated watching someone move through a room with that kind of confidence,” says Schorr. “Someone who knows they can have anyone they want, and that they're the one deciding who's worthy of their attention. I started imagining what it would feel like to be her...and even more, what it would feel like to love her.”

The track features Jack Newsome, whose harmony videos have earned him more than one million followers across TikTok and Instagram. The collaboration came together after Newsome shared a cover of Blond in Car’s song “My High Gummygirl”, the track that helped introduce Schorr’s music to a huge online audience.

“When I wrote the song, I kept hearing Jack's heavenly voice,” Schorr recalls. “I knew he'd bring exactly the kind of delicious pop energy the song needed.”

Long before becoming one of indie music’s most talked-about new voices, Schorr had already built an accomplished career as a film producer. Music became the next chapter of her creative journey, beginning with homemade performances recorded on an Omnichord in her kitchen. A simple video of her performing “My High Gummygirl” unexpectedly went viral, introducing hundreds of thousands of listeners to her distinctive voice and deeply personal songwriting.

Today, Blond in Car has built a community of more than 750,000 followers, with fans including SZA, Rosalía, Aurora, and Marina. She has earned a reputation as “your favourite songwriter’s favourite songwriter” while continuing to win over audiences with her unique blend of humour, honesty, and dreamlike indie pop.

“How To Be a Mystery” follows “Bad Dad”, which offered the first glimpse into the emotional world of GLIDER and earned support from Spotify, Apple Music, and TIDAL playlists, as well as praise from influential music critic Anthony Fantano.

Over the past year, Blond in Car has toured with CMAT, The Two Lips, and Slimdan, appeared alongside artists including Beach Bunny, Wallice, and Quarters of Change, and collaborated with brands such as Olipop, KAYAK, Atlantic Records, Domino Records, and XL Recordings.

With GLIDER, Schorr explores themes of family, anxiety, hope, chosen connections, and the courage it takes to keep believing in love. Rather than looking back at youth, her music celebrates reinvention, curiosity, and the idea that growing older means having more stories to tell.

With “How To Be a Mystery”, Blond in Car continues to prove why she has become one of indie music’s most captivating new voices, creating songs that are thoughtful, playful, and impossible to forget.

“How To Be a Mystery” featuring Jack Newsome is available on all streaming platforms now.
