LIZ Closes 'Prototype' Era With Euphoric New Single “Jus Wanna”

LIZ has released her new single “Jus Wanna,” the final focus track from her album Prototype, which arrived on 12 June. The record marks a confident culmination of her long-running exploration of futuristic pop, but it is “Jus Wanna” that brings the project’s sound into its clearest, most immediate form.

Built around a late-night house pulse, “Jus Wanna” leans into a straightforward but powerful club structure. Four-on-the-floor percussion drives the track forward while layered harmonies and airy falsettos give it a softer emotional edge. The result is a song that feels equally suited to a packed dancefloor or a solitary night walk through the city.

Written with Dutch DJ FS Green and produced by Jimmy Harry, known for his work with Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears, the track draws from UK garage, house and Y2K pop, while carrying traces of hyperpop’s digital shimmer. Rather than overwhelming the listener, it gradually builds tension, eventually opening into a wide, almost euphoric breakdown before snapping back into rhythm.

Across Prototype, LIZ has been shaping a distinct sonic world that blends nostalgia with forward-looking production. Earlier tracks such as the SOPHIE collaboration “Sunscreen,” the hyperpop-leaning “Likey,” and “L in Lover” featuring JC Chasez each explored different corners of that aesthetic. “Jus Wanna” feels like the moment where those ideas settle into focus, offering something direct, emotional and club-ready.

For over a decade, LIZ has been associated with a reimagined take on Y2K pop, combining bubblegum melodies with underground electronic influences. Her work has drawn support from artists including SOPHIE, Charli XCX and Diplo, and has been covered by outlets such as Pitchfork, Billboard and The FADER.

With “Jus Wanna,” she delivers one of her most immediate statements yet. It is playful without being slight, emotional without losing momentum, and built with a clear sense of dancefloor intent. As the final word on Prototype, it underlines the project’s central idea: pop music can look backwards and forwards at the same time, while still hitting hardest in the present moment.
