GVIN CHAMPP – 7EVEN (EP): A Journey Through Sound and Spirit

Gvin Champp, born Igiri George Oheji on 12 May 1998, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist from Lagos. He blends Afrobeats, Afrosoul, Afroswing, Pop, and R&B, creating music that combines raw emotion with innovative sound. His work is inspired by his life experiences and a desire to uplift listeners.

Growing up in a financially challenged household, Gvin Champp is the son of a lab technologist who lost his job in 2012 and a mother who balanced work as a local orthopaedist with commercial farming. These early challenges have influenced his lyrics, which often focus on resilience, hope, and ambition.

He began writing songs and playing guitar in his early teens. Gvin Champp attended Tai Solarin University of Education to study Library and Information Science, but he paused his studies to pursue music full-time. His debut single, IMPORTANT, highlights his gift for melody and meaningful lyrics, combining introspection with vibrant production. A rework of the single is currently in progress.

His music and story have attracted international attention. He participated in the Hit-Boy Beat Exchange Contest powered by UnitedMasters and was featured in Billboard in September 2022. He has also received coverage from Vocalo 91.1 FM Chicago, WBEZ Chicago, and TheChrdMag Los Angeles. Previously signed under Bentley Records/FUGA Distribution, Gvin Champp is now focused on building his career as an independent artist, bringing authentic Nigerian storytelling to a global audience.

7EVEN is Gvin Champp’s latest EP, a spiritually influenced Afropop and Afrobeats project centred on the symbolism of the number seven, which represents completion, order, introspection, and rebirth. The EP is a journey inward, exploring identity, purpose, and the unseen forces that shape the human spirit.

The project includes four tracks, each representing an archetype within the cycle of seven: The Thinker, The Seeker, The Mystic, and The Introspective. Together, these tracks form a larger spiritual narrative, capturing moments of questioning, searching, awakening, and reflection that define human experience.

Rooted in Afrobeats and Afropop, 7EVEN combines rhythmic energy with atmospheric production, layered melodies, and honest storytelling. Gvin Champp balances danceable sounds with thoughtful lyrics to create music that resonates both emotionally and physically.
