Bear Down Bear Releases “The Dumpster” Single

With their latest single, The Dumpster, Bear Down Bear sees Jeff and Jessey Eagan leaning into nostalgia rock with a strong sense of humour. The duo combines simple melodies with tight vocal harmonies to create songs that bring back fond, often awkward memories of simpler times when school grades and friendships felt like the most important things in the world.

Although Bear Down Bear perform live as an acoustic duo, in the studio they prefer to create a full-band sound. Their recordings are reminiscent of The Format, The Head & The Heart, and Pedro the Lion, blending honest instrumentation with storytelling that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The story behind The Dumpster is classic Bear Down Bear. When Jeff was in college, he worked after-hours as a custodian in a random office building in Phoenix, Arizona. With his overactive imagination, he was constantly expecting to find a dead body or worse around every corner. One night, as he threw trash into a dumpster, a man suddenly shouted, “What the f*$%!” from inside. That was when Jeff realised that his natural response isn’t fight or flight but freeze.

The song tells that story with the same humour and self-deprecation that is present in much of Bear Down Bear’s music. Rather than following a standard verse, chorus, verse, bridge, chorus structure, they chose a more linear approach to let the story unfold naturally. The music keeps things simple, and the instrumentation complements the story instead of getting in the way.

Over the past twenty years, Jeff and Jessey have performed under many different names across multiple states, but it was in Tucson and around Arizona in 2025 that Bear Down Bear really started to take shape. With The Dumpster, they continue to refine their sound, delivering songs that are nostalgic, funny, and entirely their own.
