Ryan Dsouza Brings Holiday Mischief to Life with “My Children Found My Gummies”

Vancouver-based independent artist Ryan Dsouza, originally from Mumbai, has once again shown his talent for blending humour, nostalgia, and musical skill with his latest single, “My Children Found My Gummies.” A self-taught musician, singer-songwriter, and producer, Ryan combines pop, soul, reggae, and ’80s influences, drawing inspiration from life, travel, and his global experiences. He also balances his music career with a corporate executive role at a leading Canadian company, proving that creativity and professionalism can go hand in hand.

After years as a lead vocalist in cover bands, Ryan now focuses on creating and performing original music and collaborating with artists around the world. His live shows include heartfelt originals and inventive covers, and his “Behind the Vibe” series gives fans a look at the stories behind his songs. Through RD Music Collective, he supports independent artists, helping them get playlist exposure and reach wider audiences.

“My Children Found My Gummies” started with a spark of holiday mischief and a shared laugh. When Ryan asked his co-writer, John W. Selleck, for an upbeat Christmas song, John immediately pictured sneaking downstairs on Christmas morning to find Santa fast asleep in a recliner after a little too much indulgence. At first, the idea was that the kids had swapped Santa’s milk for bourbon, but the story soon changed to something more modern and playful. In the end, it was the children who accidentally found Dad’s gummies.

The song is a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the chaos of Christmas morning. Ryan brought the story to life with a swing-jazz arrangement inspired by classics like Tequila and Dinah Washington’s recordings. It features acoustic bass, jazz guitar, strings, a full brass section, and a growling saxophone solo, combining retro charm with modern pop influences.

“My Children Found My Gummies” captures the festive spirit with humour and irresistible swing. It evokes the nostalgic warmth of traditional holiday records while sounding fresh and lively. The track is a reminder that even Santa can have an off night, and sometimes the best stories come from a little chaos, a bit of humour, and plenty of heart.

Ryan Dsouza continues to stand out in the indie music scene, creating songs that are both musically engaging and full of personality. This latest single shows that his energy and imagination remain as strong as ever.
