Lucy Deakin Heats Up the Alt-Pop Scene with New Single ‘Sunburn’

London alt-pop artist Lucy Deakin has released her brilliant new single ‘Sunburn’, a track that further establishes her as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging pop voices.

Following the success of her previous single, which drew high praise from BBC Radio 1, anticipation for Lucy’s return has been steadily building. “It’s effortlessly anthemic,” said Jodie Bryant on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop, where the track went on to receive continued support from multiple presenters in the lead-up to this next release. That momentum now carries forward into Sunburn. Pre-save ‘Sunburn’ here.

A shimmering rush of alt-pop nostalgia, Sunburn captures the warm, irresistible ache of a connection that lingers long after it should have faded. Written in London in November 2025, the single pairs upbeat, sun-soaked production with bittersweet, emotionally charged lyrics. Lucy describes the song as an attempt to do anything possible to keep that summer feeling alive, holding onto both a person and a season even when it hurts.

Lucy’s sound is shaped by a story of three cities. Stoke-on-Trent bred, London based and LA influenced, she draws from each place to form her most refined and powerful era yet. Her rise has already been marked by significant milestones, including over one million views on a TikTok sound, a Top 25 iTunes pop single, and consistent support from BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop, who described her music as an “infectious pop ear-worm.” She has also been recognised by NME as an Essential Emerging Artist.

Over the past year, Lucy has sharpened her craft through collaborations with Becky Hill, McFly, Jason Perry, Mr Hudson and Dylan Nash. She has also cemented her place as an original member of LOUD LDN, the female and non-binary collective at the forefront of London’s alternative-pop scene. Her growing reputation as a live performer has been reinforced by standout appearances at Latitude Festival and Abbie McCarthy’s Good Karma Club.

After a year defined by creative growth and high-profile songwriting cuts, Lucy Deakin officially steps into her next era. With previous single Solar Eclipse setting the tone as a clear statement of intent, Sunburn keeps the momentum burning, and more new music is expected very soon.
