Alan Ward Delivers a Vibrant New Chapter with “Great Time” (ft. 4 The Brotherhood)

Alan Ward’s new single Great Time, featuring 4 The Brotherhood, marks another confident step in the Milwaukee-born artist’s development. Now living in Baltimore, Ward continues to shape a sound that feels personal, thoughtful and grounded in hip-hop tradition. The single offers a clear hint of a forthcoming project with the same warm, melodic feel.

Ward’s path into music started early. He began writing poetry and lyrics at 12, later recording during his school years and gradually finding his voice through years of independent work. After finishing university in Winona, Minnesota, he returned his focus to music and launched his professional career in 2019 with his debut EP Joon. In 2020 he followed it with Dolo, a mixtape that helped build his audience and showed his talent for layered lyricism and soulful production.

Themes of resilience, identity and everyday struggle run through much of Ward’s work. His 2023 single Bucket paid tribute to hip-hop’s golden era with its melancholic production and sincere, reflective writing. Great Time continues in that spirit, carrying Ward’s familiar boom-bap influences but adding a brighter sense of celebration and progress.

Although he has moved to Baltimore, Ward still takes pride in his Milwaukee roots and is often mentioned in roundups highlighting rappers from the city who have made their mark elsewhere.

With Great Time, Alan Ward sets the tone for what looks to be an engaging new project. The single feels grounded, honest and full of life, showing an artist who continues to grow while staying true to the foundations that shaped him.
