August Life Unveils Their Latest Masterpiece: 'Passage of Time'

AUGUST LIFE is the brainchild of Gert Nijboer and Bryan Ketelaars. Combining Gert’s songwriting prowess with Bryan’s expertise in crafting vocal melodies and lyrics, the duo embarked on a creative journey that led to the release of their debut album New Eternity. The album was met with critical acclaim and was even described as a sister album to the legendary Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche.

Drawing inspiration from classic metal acts such as Dio, Rainbow and Savatage, as well as modern icons including Dream Theater, Threshold, Shadow Gallery, Evergrey, Vanden Plas, Pagan’s Mind and Pantera, August Life has forged a sound that seamlessly blends influences from across generations of metal.

Following a dream start as a live act, the band performed alongside notable names including Tygers of Pan Tang and Praying Mantis, with further shows planned with Threshold and Tyketto both in the Netherlands and abroad. However, the COVID pandemic and its restrictions temporarily put this momentum on hold.

Despite the challenges, the period of lockdown proved productive, with the band writing exceptional new material. In 2021, they released the single The Broken Hourglass, which received enthusiastic responses from fans around the world.

Building on this momentum, August Life continued to refine their craft. Their next album, Passage of Time, produced by Markus Teske, known for his work with Vanden Plas, The New Roses, UDO, Mob Rules, Dominici, Saga and Symphony X, promises to be a landmark release. Fans can expect a meticulously crafted collection of progressive metal tracks that highlight the band’s evolving sound and ambition.

With their distinctive blend of classic and modern metal influences, August Life is quickly establishing itself as the new progressive metal sensation from the Netherlands.
