Dafties Serve Up Cheeky New Single “Ohmygodyuwgueys”
Manchester-based alternative duo Dafties, featuring lead vocalist Rae Elizabeth and lead guitarist Connor Taylor, are making waves with their latest single, “Ohmygodyuwgueys”, released on 5th September 2025. Already gaining traction on BBC Introducing, the band have quickly established themselves as a fresh and fearless voice in the UK alternative scene, having formed just under a year ago in October 2024.
“Ohmygodyuwgueys” is a razor-sharp, cheeky dig at today’s influencers and basic snobs, the entitled types from privileged backgrounds who often act out-of-touch and superior. With lyrics that border on explicit, the track is a fun, frustration-fuelled takedown of forced personas, celebrating instead the joy of being unapologetically yourself. As the duo explains, it’s “one of the songs where we were all thinking it, we just chose to say it.”
Musically, the single draws inspiration from Lily Allen’s 2006 ‘Alright, Still’, marrying witty lyricism with catchy melodies. Its unapologetic attitude resonates especially with those who can do both, girly girl and tomboy, rather than conforming to a one-dimensional personality, the kind typified by the classic Mean Girls archetype.
Following the success of their previous release, ‘Thrift Store’, which racked up 32,000 Spotify streams in just 67 days, “Ohmygodyuwgueys” sets the stage for Dafties’ upcoming project. With this new single, the duo are kickstarting what promises to be a bold, provocative chapter in their career, intending to upset all the right people while delighting fans with their signature cheek and charm.
In short, Dafties’ “Ohmygodyuwgueys” is an irreverent, witty, and unapologetically fun anthem for anyone tired of pretence and craving authenticity in a world full of influencers and social posturing.
