Zachary Friederich Unveils Eclectic New EP ‘SOME FANTASTIC FOREVER’

New York-based songwriter and producer Zachary Friederich has once again demonstrated his genre-hopping prowess with the release of his latest EP, SOME FANTASTIC FOREVER. Known for blending the intimacy of Singer-Songwriter Americana with the infectious hooks of Indie Pop, Friederich delivers a collection that is as sonically adventurous as it is emotionally resonant, with his signature fever dream production threading each track. Longtime collaborators David Lowell and Kate DeToye contribute to the EP, enriching its layered textures and dynamic soundscapes.

Opening the EP, When I Die is a raucous Roots Rock number that embarks on a musical journey down Highway 61, tackling big existential questions with irrepressible energy. In contrast, Danny The Lush offers a loose Southern Rock interpretation of John Steinbeck’s Tortilla Flat, serving also as a heartfelt tribute to a close friend and mentor.

Friederich turns reflective with Ruby Rose, a desolate Cowboy song written in memory of a love lost too soon, while Finally Found You reimagines the timeless hymn Amazing Grace in a contemporary light. Meanwhile, Swoonin’ charms with its American Songbook-inspired sensibilities, built around a deconstructed guitar riff that dances between elegance and whimsy.

Rounding out the EP, Magic is Real is a lavish holiday production capturing the familiar struggle of a parent attempting to coax an overexcited child to bed on Christmas Eve night, blending festive warmth with Friederich’s characteristic production flair.

With SOME FANTASTIC FOREVER, Zachary Friederich once again proves himself a fearless explorer of musical territory, crafting songs that are simultaneously intimate, inventive and unforgettable. The EP is a testament to his skill at weaving storytelling and sonic experimentation into a cohesive, compelling listening experience.
