Outfoxer Unleashes Relentless Fury with Single ‘Chase of Wolves’
Chicago’s own metalcore force, Outfoxer, has returned with their latest single, Chase of Wolves, a blistering showcase of speed, aggression and lyrical depth. Known for their sharp edge and relentless energy, Outfoxer continues to carve out a unique space within the heavy music scene with this fast-paced new offering.
Formed by guitarist and songwriter Frankie Ciccarelli alongside vocalist and lyricist Matt Matigian, Outfoxer’s sound is a fusion of heavy music traditions that balances punishing intensity with precise musicianship. Ciccarelli channels the chaotic energy of bands like Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, Comeback Kid and Converge, crafting riffs that twist and surge with raw urgency. On vocals, Matigian delivers a darker, visceral presence that draws from the melodic power of nu-metal pioneers such as Mudvayne, All That Remains and Chevelle. This combination results in a sound that is as intelligent as it is savage, offering both calculated mayhem and emotional catharsis.
Chase of Wolves stands out as one of Outfoxer’s heavier and faster tracks to date. Its lyrical themes are inspired by Norse mythology, focusing on the tale of Skoll and Hati, the two wolves eternally chasing the sun and moon. This mythic reference adds a haunting layer to the track’s already intense atmosphere, complementing the band's signature aggressive style with storytelling depth.
Since their formation, Outfoxer has steadily built a devoted underground following thanks to releases such as the The Next Testament EP and their full-length album Gospel Snakes. Both works showcase their ability to blend ferocity with technical skill. The band has also released a standalone single while preparing fans for their highly anticipated sophomore LP, The Murder of Ares, with Chase of Wolves serving as a powerful chapter in this evolving narrative.
Outfoxer is far from just another metalcore band. They are a relentless force in heavy music, combining speed, fury and thoughtful lyricism into something distinctly their own. Chase of Wolves reaffirms their position as one of Chicago’s fiercest exports and promises even more intensity to come.
