Fakkinautika’s New EP ‘Problemi da primo mondo’: A Fresh Chapter in an Evolving Journey
Fakkinautika, the Turin-based band with a rich and winding history, returns to the public ear with their new EP, ‘Problemi da primo mondo’. This release marks a poignant moment after five years of silence, highlighting the band’s transformation and their fearless embrace of new musical directions.
Originally emerging from the underground rock scene of Turin, Italy, the group’s origins trace back to their early days as Sklerks. Over two decades, they evolved into Fakkinautika and later the Extrasistols, with Federico F on guitars, arrangements, and songwriting, alongside Fiorenza T lending her guitar skills, vocals, and songwriting talent. Together, Federico and Fiorenza built a solid reputation within the city’s underground rock clubs, carving a niche with their gritty yet melodic sound.
The dynamic shifted with the arrival of new members: Fabio Z on bass, vocals, and songwriting; Michele G and James Douglas Sirius on guitars and vocals; and Panda on drums. This refreshed lineup steered the band towards a more pop-oriented direction, performing in intimate venues such as small clubs and private parties. However, creative tensions soon emerged as some members desired a softer, less noisy approach, ultimately resulting in the band’s split.
In 2019, the group released the largely unreleased album Musica in via d’estinzione, a collection that fans cherished deeply, prompting widespread calls for a reunion. Now, after a five-year hiatus, Federico F returns as a solo artist, his music steeped in blues with a heart full of passion and soul. The new EP ‘Problemi da primo mondo’ embodies this shift, blending blues with jazz and funk influences, reflecting Federico’s evolving taste and musical exploration.
Joining Federico is Sara V, an extraordinary vocalist drawn from the world of lyrical opera, who lends her unique voice to this fresh, eclectic sound. This collaboration adds an unexpected depth and range, ushering Fakkinautika’s music into uncharted territory, a soundscape that balances raw emotion with refined artistry.
‘Problemi da primo mondo’ lyrically navigates the dualities of love and the stark realities of night shifts, capturing both tenderness and the harshness of modern life. The EP resonates with listeners who appreciate the honesty of storytelling wrapped in sophisticated musicality.
As Fakkinautika embarks on this new chapter, blending genres and embracing new voices, their journey reflects resilience and artistic growth. Fans old and new alike can anticipate more genre-bending tracks that honour their roots while pushing creative boundaries.
This latest release is not just a comeback, it is a statement that Fakkinautika’s music continues to evolve, ever dynamic, ever passionate, and always sincere.
