SACROBOSCO Unveils New Single 'Blackthrough' Ahead of Highly Anticipated Album

Following the intriguing release of Once, producer Giacomo Giunchedi – under his moniker SACROBOSCO – continues to reveal the sonic landscape of his forthcoming third album with a brand new single, Blackthrough. Out on 18th April 2025 via his newly founded label Antinational Noise, in collaboration with Audioglobe, Blackthrough serves as the final preview of his upcoming record, Apes + Tigers.

SACROBOSCO emerged in early 2020 as a fresh artistic direction for Giunchedi, aiming to explore instrumental compositions with a predominant use of electronics – a clear stylistic departure from his previous work as Cadori. The pandemic signified a definitive shift, with the name SACROBOSCO becoming his sole artistic identity. His debut EP Dam, released the same year through Switch Music Recordings, was soon followed by the double single Neon Sunshine/Avalanche.

In 2021, Giunchedi released his first full-length album, Both Sides of the Sky, produced under the artistic guidance of Daniele Carretti (Offlaga Disco Pax, Felpa) and issued by Sussidiaria. The album received widespread critical acclaim, notably from Emiliano Colasanti of 42 Records, who heralded it as one of the year's best releases. Extensive live performances throughout 2021 further solidified his presence in the electronic music scene.

The year 2023 marked a significant milestone as SACROBOSCO joined the Trovarobato roster, releasing the twin albums IVXVI and IXVXI, which prompted an intense live schedule, including prestigious international dates in Brussels, Paris, and Berlin. He also expanded his repertoire by remixing tracks for Berlin-based project Sweet Tempest. In 2024, he established Antinational Noise, an independent label dedicated to curating experimental electronic projects, and contributed the track Mirrored to its inaugural compilation.

The seeds of Apes + Tigers were sown during the promotional tours of 2023–2024, with a crucial new collaboration emerging alongside trumpeter Paolo Raineri (Ottone Pesante, Calibro 35, Iosonouncane). Their partnership played a key role in shaping the new material, blending organic instrumentation with electronic textures. Live performances now feature Raineri and drummer Gioele Pagliaccia (Joe Lally, Idris Ackamoor and The Pyramids, Vincenzo Vasi), enriching SACROBOSCO’s sound with a vibrant, dynamic energy.

With Blackthrough, SACROBOSCO delves deeper into his exploration of the complex relationship between man and machine, a central theme of his new creative phase. The track reinterprets the intricate structures of IDM, filtered through a lo-fi lens that defines his current production style. Echoes of Warp Records’ seminal aesthetic resonate throughout the piece, yet Giunchedi manages to craft something distinctly his own – atmospheric, emotionally charged, yet propelled by a driving beat and pulsing bass that transport the listener through a vivid space-time continuum.

The track unfolds in a seamless, living flow, akin to a journey through ever-changing landscapes under shifting lights and skies. Power and rhythm intertwine with rarefied moments of contemplation, resulting in a work of exceptional refinement, consistent with SACROBOSCO’s reputation for sophisticated soundscapes.

Complementing the single are two exclusive B-sides, Transparent Jungle and Rosa Arancione Rosso, offering listeners a more dreamlike and exotic sonic experience, and further enriching the multifaceted universe SACROBOSCO continues to build.

With Blackthrough, Giunchedi once again pushes the boundaries of electronic music, constructing an immersive, sensorial realm where technique and sensitivity coexist in perfect balance. It is a bold affirmation of SACROBOSCO’s ability to traverse diverse genres while maintaining a distinct and unwavering artistic identity.
