Wolfsmoke Unleash Power and Emotion with New Single 'DeadSpace'
Sheffield-based alternative rockers Wolfsmoke have kicked off 2025 with a bang, releasing their eagerly anticipated single DeadSpace on New Year’s Day. Available on all major streaming platforms, this latest track showcases the band’s dynamic range, blending hard-hitting instrumentation with deeply personal lyrics.
A Band with No Boundaries
Wolfsmoke, a four-piece rock outfit from South Yorkshire, is known for seamlessly weaving influences from metal, pop, and alternative rock. With fuzzy riffs courtesy of guitarist Joshua Cantrill, thunderous percussion provided by new drummer Tara Armstrong, and frontwoman Jo Nash’s melodic and emotive vocals, the band creates a sound that defies subgenre constraints.
Originally formed in 2019 by Cantrill and founding drummer James Banks, Wolfsmoke have weathered significant challenges, including the trials of the pandemic. Despite these setbacks, they emerged stronger, regularly performing live from 2021 onwards. Over the years, the band’s line-up has evolved, with bassist Scott Andrews joining in late 2023 to complete the current roster.
DeadSpace: A Journey of Emotion
DeadSpace marks a significant moment for the band as the final recording to feature James Banks before his departure in mid-2024. Recorded at Sheffield’s Hybrid 3 studios and released through their own label, Howling Records, the track captures a raw and authentic side of Wolfsmoke.
Penned by frontwoman Jo Nash, the song delves into the emotional turmoil of feeling trapped in a relationship devoid of love and fulfilment. Opening with a haunting combination of clean guitar and Nash’s evocative vocals, DeadSpace builds into a relentless wall of sound driven by distorted riffs, pounding drums, and a bassline that roars like an engine. The catchy chorus and dynamic structure make it an unforgettable addition to Wolfsmoke’s catalogue.
A Year of Change and Growth
2024 was a transformative year for Wolfsmoke. Alongside the release of Devil’s Cup (Re-imagined) and a series of captivating live performances, the band welcomed new members Scott Andrews and Tara Armstrong. Their fresh energy has breathed new life into Wolfsmoke, pushing the group to greater heights both on stage and in the studio.
With new material already in the works, the band is gearing up for an exciting year ahead. Fans can look forward to hearing these fresh tracks during their upcoming performances, starting with a showcase event at Crank Studios in Leeds on 8th March 2025.
