Normani (ft 6LACK) - Waves | Song Review
Her first single as a solo artist, the duet 'Love Lies' with singer Khalid recorded for the soundtrack of the movie Love, Simon, reached number 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100. She is currently working on her debut solo album.
After collaborating with a few artists, she has finally released her debut single called 'Waves' from her debut album which is rumoured to be released early next year! This song features 6LACK who is is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper from Atlanta, Georgia.
Normani previously performed this track during her set at TIDAL X in Brooklyn in October 2018.
The song sees Normani going through the motions of a rocky and toxic relationship. Whilst the on-off relationship isn’t good for her, the songstress finds it impossible to pull away and keeps going back for more.
‘Waves’ shows off Normani’s soul-filled vocals whilst finding her own sound as a solo artist. I can see Normani being a worldwide sensation; may be taking the same path Beyonce did when Destiny's Child parted their ways.
Delivering emotion through her vocals that can make people relate to her feelings and thoughts. Adding the extra verse by 6LACK really works and fits perfectly on this track and they bounce off each other which is exactly what you want you to want when collaborating on a song together.
This song has a really cool vibe. I think it is more of a chilling in bed kind of song than a club banger. I can see a remix being released of this song and it would sound so good in nightclubs.
I really like this song and I am very excited about Normani's solo career - as I am for all the ex-Fifth Harmony members.
